Sounds for Download

On these pages we provide free downloads of a variety of sounds which some people prefer to sounds such as birds, wind, rain, forests etc. Some of these files are quite big as, unfortunately, file size generally increases with quality. The mp3 files are smaller because they discard or reduce the quality of the 'less important' sounds. Fine for pop music and speech, perhaps not so good for white noise and other sounds. For that reason we offer a variety of formats, the Ogg format giving better quality (providing your player recognises it). On request we can provide these as 1 hour CDs by post. Alternatively for those with some technical ability the 1 minute samples could be extended to play for any period. We are always willing to attempt to provide other sounds on request. 

The 'Representative sounds of tinnitus' is also available on CD from the office for those who cannot download it and burn it to CD.  Many people find the tinnitus-like sounds on this CD useful for demonstrating to friends, relatives and colleagues, what tinnitus is like.
